Location: Thimphu, Punakha, Paro- famous Tiger Nest & Bumdra Trek

Bumdra Trek is the combination of an easy trek around Paro, but before that, you will get to experience Khamsum Yuelly hike in Punakha which will actually prepare you for the trek. It is a guided trek and tour around Paro, Thimphu, and Punakha. You will spend 2 days walking the area around Paro, through the vast valley, passing temples and monasteries watching the sunset over the mountains of Haa. This hike may be a challenge for some, taking you up 4,000 meters in a day, but you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views of a fascinating cliff-face pilgrimage site, small chapels and Tiger's Nest itself. 

  • Day 1: Arrival to Paro & Thimphu

    On arrival at Paro Airport and after completing your Visa / Permit formalities you will be received by our representative who will assist you in boarding your vehicle for transfer to Thimphu (2320Mts / 7656Fts, 65 Kms / 01½ to 02 Hrs), Thimphu is the capital town of Bhutan.

    Your first stop at Tamchoe lhakhang; stretch your legs and arms and breathe fresh air and walk down to bridge. Visit Tamchoe monastery at other side of the river crossing the new bridge (where you can also have a look of traditional Iron chained bridge, scenic river view and photo shoot if you wish)

    Overnight at Hotel in Thimphu

  • Day2: Thimphu –Punakha (stop at Douchla Pass)

    • After breakfasts, morning Thimphu sightseeing covering few left over places if any. Proceed to Punakha, brief stop at Dochula Pass (3150 m), 30 km from Thimphu, for the spectacular views of the Eastern Himalayan Mountain range on clear days. Take a walk around the 108 stupas & continue journey to Punakha for another 1½ hours.
    • On your way stop for lunch at Metsina village and then visit Devine Madman’s temple (Chhimi Lhakhang) located at a hilltop, the temple of fertility. The hike will take about 15-20 minutes from the road end through paddy fields, farmhouses and handicrafts.
    • Further proceed to Punakha to visit the glorious Punakha Dzong /Fort, a magnificent structure build upon the confluence of two major rivers in Bhutan (the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu)
    Overnight at the Hotel in Punakha / Wangdue Phodrang
  • DAY 03: Punakha –Khamsum Yuelly hike & Paro

    A popular excursion to experience while you are in Punakha at 1800 m from Mochu River and it will prepare you for the next hike at Paro.

    A 4-storied temple is a fine example of Bhutanese architecture and artistic traditions stands out on a beautiful ridge above the Punakha valley. One can enjoy panoramic view of Punakha valley below.

    Visit Suspension Bridge (160 – 180m) long, the longest of its kind in Bhutan connecting the Punakha Dzong with the villages on the other bank of the Pho Chhu (male) river.

    Afternoon Proceed to Paro.

  • Day 04: Sangchen Choekor Shedra to Bumdrak (3800m)

    Our camp for the night is arranged just under Bumdra Monastery (Cave of a Hundred Thousand Prayers) where the Himalayan range with fine sunset can be viewed. One can also have opportunity to meditate at the monastery in the afternoon.

  • Day 5: Bumdra to Taktshang & Paro.

    After our breakfast, our trek begins to Paro via Taktshang Monastery. After 1 -2 hours of descent walk downhill we catch glimpses of the golden roofs of temples below.  The path snakes across the mountainside between these monasteries before reaching Zangtopelri (Heaven on Earth); from here you get views of the Taktsang Monastery.

    An hour later you reach Taktsang Monastery. You can have your lunch at Tiger Nest cafeteria ( the midpoint view) another an hour walk from the monastery and further walk downhill for an hour will reach the road head where your vehicle will be waiting for you.

    Overnight stay at Hotel, but you can experience a dinner at Farm house. A traditional Bhutanese guest house tasting particular family’s special local dishes, clicking pictures, joining the family for meals will give you wonderful experiences. One can have traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath services which can be availed on advance booking with additional payment.

  • Day 6: Depart Paro for your onward destination.

    After the breakfast our representative will escort to airport for your onward destination.
